Department Head
Mandate
The Department of Public Enterprises is established to position Namibia's key State-Owned Enterprises to play a meaningful role in the country's development. It ensures that State-Owned Enterprises are well-managed and do not present a financial burden to the state.
The Department has introduced generally accepted principles of corporate governance, streamlined the legal framework, reviewed guidelines and established common policy frameworks and directives — all designed to translate public enterprises into effective and efficient agents for implementing the National Development Plans essential to achieving Vision 2030.
The Department also works to ensure adequate capitalisation of public enterprises and to enhance the skills and knowledge of those fulfilling policy, administrative and accountability responsibilities.
